The cheese dip is too runny and the salsa could be chunkier too. However I really enjoyed my chicken quesadilla and my husband really loved his carne Asada taco salad. We had lunch on their cute little porch on a Sunday afternoon they weren't busy. We will be back with the kids!

Very underwhelmed. The location is in a repurposed house so I thought I was in for a treat when walking in. Nope. The chips were store bought, the margaritas were WAY too expensive for a little hole in the wall and my "enchilada sauce" tasted like Campbell's tomato soup mix. I would pass on this one.

We had a great late dinner here the other night with great service and will certainly be back. The food was authentic, the margaritas tasty, and the prices reasonable. Our only wish was that the queso dip was a little thicker. But all in all, we're glad to have this restaurant in he neighborhood.

A new full service Mexican restaurant two blocks away--we couldn't be more excited!! I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito and I kept waiting to find taste. Sadly there was none, not even in the red sauce poured over it... The burrito was filled with beans which is disappointing since beans in a Carne Burrito just leave you feeling artificially full and bloated. The margarita lacked taste also, I tried rocks and frozen-rocks was minutely better. It's also important to note that after a medium frozen and small rocks margarita I feel almost completely sober. My wife liked her taco. Salsa was also bland. Also, the place is pricey for what it is. Pretty disappointed--we hope they make some adjustments... We will try again and I might revise my rating at that time.

Beer was good, chips tasted like old oil or were stored tooooo long. Sauces were bland. Chili relano was not stuffed with anything if I wanted just a pepper I would of ordered it. Surprised by the great chili verde. My wife had the shrimp with cream . It was flooded boiled shrimp an raw onions in milk. Believe me the beer was the best thing.

Apparently those who did not appreciate the food have no taste buds. I live a block away and it has been the perfect place for dinner and I have also tried the new breakfast menu. It's always been wonderful food and service

We went for lunch and was impressed. Interesting layout as it is in an old house but we did not feel cramped- right about three 4 seat tables in each room. Menu was large and only a small part of the menu were "numbered" items. I had the Mindys special and my wife had the cream chicken. At least from my experiences in Monterrey and Saltillo, this has been the closet to authentic in Des Moines, down to the tortillas served on the side. I would highly recommend

My daughter and I have eaten here several times since it opened in mid December, 2014. I love it!! We have had the salsa, queso (in fact order this every time) and had the taquitos twice. My daughter loves the fajitas and burrito blanco. I love the Camerones a la Diabla. It is served with a killer white sauce - so good! On the evening we had the coctel de Camerones, we had two other dining partners with us and there were enough shrimp in this dish to feed the table! We have been in so many times that the owners now knows us by name and immediately brings me a margarita. We have also gotten to know them and I love that their two daughters work there with them.

ordered carne asada - could have used it as a Frisbee - tough and burnt. told the waiter - he brought another - had no flavor either steak. the beans were blah! nothing was good except the jalapeno poppers. won't be back. those who gave it 5 stars either worked there or were drunk.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
